◀ 5.1. PIMO5 Task Management

5.1.1. Management of PIMO tasks via Thunderbird

The users task list can be created and managed with PIMO applications as well as 3rd party programs which support the CalDAV interface. The following video shows a roundtrip starting with tasks in Mozilla Thunderbird and continuing in PIMO5.

The users can easily create, manage and interact with their tasks or "ToDos" using the pimo5 interface. But, more importantly, they can do this with - maybe interleaved with pimo5 - a common application like Thunderbird. Thunderbird has been chosen here to experiment and prove the concept. Of course, an integration into Evernote and other commonly used todo list apps would be fruitful and surely deliver more interesting user feedback and insights.

Task management triggers forgetting and preservation

In any case, the task or todo management in important for many humans and, hence, it is important for ForgetIT to do both: provide assistance while the user manages his/her tasks and, in parallel, use that interaction also to infer or gather relevance evidences for referenced the material (things) during that process. For tasks which get finished (or have due dates), the computation of ForgetIT relevant values can be triggered, e.g, memory buoyancy values can sink steeply after finishing a task, etc.

On the other hand, tasks can also trigger preservation. If a task get very rich in terms of semantic descriptions (number of relations etc.) and in terms of high interaction along some period of time, this indicates that the task is potentially important. Such tasks can be preserved automatically when the evidence is high enough.
